These recipes are taken from "Bun-Sgoil Bhorradail Cook Book"
( Borrodale School cook book) produced a few years ago now
6 oz wholemeal flour , 4 oz butter at room temperature , 2 oz medium oatmeal ,
4 oz soft brown sugar , 1 teaspoon baking powder , 1/2 teaspoon hot curry powder ,
1 tablespoon milk for binding.
Method
Heat the oven to 350 *F/180*C. Combine all the dry ingredients , rub in the butter.
Add the milk - the dough should be slightly wetter than for short crust pastry. Roll out and cut into rounds. Bake for 15-20 minutes , then leave to cool on a tray for 5 minutes then a wire rack. Delicious with cheese.

2 lb sugar , 1 tin Nestles condensed milk , 1/4 lb butter , 1 cup of water ,
vanilla essence (1 small teaspoon)
Method
Melt the butter and add sugar and water. Stir until melted then add the condensed milk.
Boil for 20 minutes , stirring all the time. Lastly add the vanilla essence.
Should it be too thick , add a little fresh milk. Pour into a greased tin .

4 oz suet (Atora) , 1 lb fine oatmeal , 2 onions
Method
Melt the suet in a heavy pan and add the chopped onoins. Fry gently until softened.
Stir in oatmeal until thoroughly mixed with onions. Season and stir gently and occasionally over a low heat . Serve with mashed potatoes and mashed turnip (that have been seasoned with pepper and a knob of butter). A delicous winter meal with or without meat.

Pack a large stainless steel pan full of washed parsley. Add enough water to peep through the top . Bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid through a jelly bag or nylon sieve. Measure and for every pint of liquid add 1 lb of sugar. Bring to boil slowly then rapidly until set. It should be like honey and good for the blood.

Method
Whisk up some helpfulness and bake it up and then spread it between wars.
